We know that Vitiligo is a loss of pigment in the skin due to the destruction of pigment forming cells called Melanocytes. Here Vitiligo Immune Dysfunction is explained
The natural colour of your skin comes from a pigment called melanin, which is produced by cells called melanocytes. The Vitiligo skin disorder characterized by white patches of skin happens when these melanocytes stop functioning correctly.
Melanocyte Dysfunction
Unfortunately this malfunction of the Melanocytes not only results in blotchy and uneven patches of white skin, but also can affect your hair, eyebrow, eyelashes, and the inside of your mouth and nose.
We know that Vitiligo is an immune dysfunction, and at Vitiligo Treatment we spend time researching case studies, and also test other products on the market to ascertain their safety and effectiveness.
Our Vitilox products are extremely effective and proven to produce positive results. Due to our wide product range and expertise, we are able to recommend a treatment specifically for your own Vitiligo condition.
As each individual’s Vitiligo Condition is unique, we urge you to complete a Free Vitiligo Assessment before purchasing products. In this way you can be assured that the product you use for your treatment is the one best suited for your condition.
Some questions we ask in the assessment that are important are:
Does Vitiligo run in your family?
If your Vitiligo is hereditary, then you will be naturally predisposed to the condition, and we would need to look at other criteria before advising you on treatment. Autoimmune diseases in general seem to have a genetic component.
Physical Trauma?
In some people, physical trauma or stress to the skin like sun burn or exposure to industrial chemicals seems to trigger Vitiligo.
Vitiligo can appear exactly on the areas where there has been some kind of injury at an earlier stage of their life. It may take years before Vitiligo manifests in these areas.
Emotional Stress?
Like physical stress, psychological distress also seems to play a part in aggravating Vitiligo, as is the case with many other skin conditions. The reason for this is that psychological stress reduces the efficiency of the immune system.
What is known is that Vitiligo, while not contagious or life-threatening, often causes significant emotional pain to the patient.
Oxidative Stress?
Oxidative stress is an imbalance in certain types of compounds, free radicals and antioxidants, involved in different physiological processes. The imbalance can be caused by exposure to UV rays, pollutants, or other environmental factors. The areas of your body that are affected by Vitiligo are known to be the most vulnerable to Oxidative stress.
We all suffer from Oxidative stress, but those with Vitiligo are much more susceptible, in particular in regards to their skin. This has been the greatest advancement in our understanding of Vitiligo, and we are currently working on this concept.
We have a much better understanding of the molecular pathways of Vitiligo and why the Melanocyte cells are destroyed.
If you have not signed up for our newsletter, I would suggest you do so as soon as possible as we have a new product with a related case study being announced within the next fortnight. (9th April 2019)
